Before pregnancy, I picked my outfits by how easily I could get away with not wearing a bra. Then somewhere during the second trimester, my breasts got super sore and I’d only be comfortable wearing a bra. I thought once the baby was born, I could go back to my anti-bra lifestyle (sike!). Postpartum, the only times I’ve dared not wear a bra, even to sleep, I end up in a puddle of my own milk 😭. I would apologize for being TMI but once you’re a mom, you realize that nothing is TMI anymore.

If I *have* to wear a bra 24/7, it better be comfortable! It should also pass the following tests,

  • Can I unhook one side (and close) with one hand?
  • If I have a wearable pump in my bra, will it stay put if I have to bend over or pick up baby?
  • Is the lining leak proof? If not, be sure to stock up on some reusable nursing pads like these.
  • Does the brand have inclusive sizing? In brands like Target and Spanx, I’m the largest size (and I’d consider myself very midsized).

I talk about pumping and nursing bras in my post about breast pumps, but I thought I’d go into more detail here. As always, this page includes affiliate links. I may receive compensation if you make purchases from this page but I will never recommend products that I don’t absolutely love.

After a lot of trial and error, here are a few of  the pumping/nursing bras I’ve liked most,

  • I just ordered another two pack of Quince Maternity and Pumping Bras. For the price and comfort, you can’t beat it! These are similar to Hatch or Bodily brands but a fraction of the price (here’s a discount link for $20 off a purchase of $200+).
  • Someone gifted me the Kindred Bravely pumping Bra and it’s incredibly comfortable!
  • The Spanx Bra-llelujah is unfortunately not size inclusive — I’m normally a 36DD  and the XL barely fit (that’s their largest size). That being said, it’s a great bra when you want more support for the girls.

On the other side of things, I’m not a fan of the Momcozy nursing bras (I tried several and the sizing/materials were never consistent). I also purchased a few Target nursing bras but unfortunately, the stand-out aspect was the price and not the comfort.

I’m still looking for the *perfect* bra. Here are some of the brands I’m planning to try next: Skims, Larken, and Knix. Any others I should try? Put them in the comments below.
