When it comes to the essentials for your little one, everyone has their own opinion on which items are worthy to splurge on and which to budget. King of controversy is the diaper —  an item you’re likely using 6-10x a day and then quite literally throwing away.

After being bombarded with Coterie ads during pregnancy, I decided to register for their newborn set. I wasn’t planning to use them exclusively but I figured they were worth trying (and like many of my friends, I thought their high quality might have a justifiable price tag for nights and I’d likely use a cheaper diaper during the day).

Fast forward almost five months later and I’m guilty of buying coterie diapers in bulk (their subscription plan saves a little money). Before giving a unanimous recommendation, I want to give a caveat — I think different diapers work better on different babies. After all, baby bodies come in all shapes and sizes just as adult bodies do. Here are a few diaper brands we liked but didn’t love for our son,

  • We liked the softness of Millie Moon but the fit was awkward. It always seemed like there was too much material on the sides.
  • We liked the sizing and fit of Pampers but we thought they had a weird smell.
  • Costco diapers (made by Huggies?) were good in all respects but didn’t impress us. Admittedly, needing to be impressed by a diaper isn’t for everyone.

And why do we love Coterie?

  • First off, they fit him amazingly. We’ve found that they run a little big but once we figured out the sizing, we were smitten.
  • Premium Quality Materials: From the soft, hypoallergenic inner lining to the breathable outer cover, every aspect of Coterie diapers is designed with your baby’s delicate skin in mind. We had a brutal case of diaper rash when we brought our son home (I blame his sensitive Irish skin he inherited from hid dad) and using Coterie diapers AND wipes (along with triple paste) finally did the trick.
  • Superior Absorbency: One of the most important features of any diaper is its ability to absorb moisture and keep your baby dry and Coterie excel in this department. We aren’t immune to blow-outs but our son’s skin isn’t irritated even after 12 hours of sleep.
  • It feels like green-washing to say Coterie is environmentally conscious but their diapers are made with sustainably sourced materials and are free from harmful chemicals.

If your little one fits and is comfortable in a diaper that isn’t $0.50/unit, you should be all means rejoice! But if you birthed a baby that inadvertently chooses the most expensive accessories, you can take my word for it that Coterie does live up to the hype.
