I don’t think you’re officially a parent until you hear a middle-of-the-night bottle warming story from a parent or grandparent — It’s almost equivalent to a grandparent saying they walked to school uphill (both ways).
Lucky for us, technology has finally set sights on bottle warming. One of our closest friends gifted us the Ember Bottle System (https://amzn.to/3xCFS0T) and we have used it for every bottle feeding since (if Ember is sounding familiar to you, you’re likely familiar with their heated coffee mugs).
The Ember system is amazing for a lot of reasons but here’s why we’re obsessed with ours,
- The Ember system comes with two bottles and because we use this system exclusively, the total amount of dirty bottles we can have in our house is two. This helps my anxiety and helps my husband and I stay on top of bottle washing. The bottles come apart in several pieces and are dishwasher safe. Our son has preferred the Ember nipple tops but you can also use their included adapters for Avent or Dr. Brown’s nipples.
- The system comes with two 6 oz. bottles but because the bottles come apart, you can easily swap out of the 6 oz. section for 8 oz. parts when your little one is drinking more per feed.
- These bottles work with a warming base that can be turned on manually or via an app. These days, we almost always turn on the warmer manually but during the newborn phase, the app was particularly helpful. If I heard my son wake up, I’d go into the app and turn on the warmer before I even got out of bed. That way, by the time I took my son out of his bassinet and changed him, the bottle was perfectly warm.
- As a huge bonus, the app also helps track feedings. My husband and I log all feeds in the app which helps our anxiety that our son is getting enough ounces per day but also helps us understand patterns and eating habits.
- The warming base holds a charge so while we keep it plugged in at home, we can unplug it, throw it in our diaper bag, and use it on the go.
- Perfectly warming your bottles in less than five minutes is pretty amazing on it’s own but the Ember System also has an insulated travel dome that can keep your bottle cool for up to four hours until you’re ready to warm it.
I’m fully aware that the price of the Ember is out of reach for many new parents. In reality, we likely wouldn’t have purchased ourselves but now it’s definitely something I encourage parents put on their registry as a “group gift.” If Ember isn’t a realistic purchase, check out this awesome stainless steel bottle warmer (https://amzn.to/4cF8O78) with great reviews.
